Had to uninstall GMail Notifier because it appeared to
turn off MS AS. A possible security issue? |

What was the behavior when you installed the notifier? Can you provide more
information? -- -steve Steve Dodson [MSFT] MCSE, CISSP PSS Security -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hi Anthony,
I've been running both here without a hitch. FWIW, I had the GMail notifier running before MWAS. I just discovered Gmail notifier running on a machine I administer. I
believe in this case Microsoft Antispyware preceded Gmail notifier. Nobody has complained, and I didn't notice any problem. There are a number of viruses which attempt to disable Microsoft Antispyware. When either an antispyware or an antivirus application is apparently disabled, I'd recommend a full scan with current definitions by an antivirus application as part of the troubleshooting. -- FAQ for Microsoft Antispyware: http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Ron Chamberlin" <ronchamberlin@msnmsn.com> wrote in message news:eNJrbNoLFHA.932@CPMSFTNGSA04.privatenews.microsoft.com... > Hi Anthony, > I've been running both here without a hitch. When I installed Gmail Notifier the MSAS icon disappeared
from the system tray near the clock so I assumed that MSAS wasn't running. On restart the MSAS icon didn't reappear in the system tray so it wasn't loaded at startup. When Gmail Notifier was uninstalled and the computer restarted the MSAS icon appeared in the system tray. So it was Gmail Notifier that was causing the problem. I've tried installing Gmail Notifier again with the same result. Anthony >-----Original Message----- >What was the behavior when you installed the notifier?
