something called vroomsearch has downloaded itself onto my
computer. It continues to download files in my favorites file, change my home page and my search engine settings. NoAdware removes it but it continues to come back each time IE is started. I have removed all temp files and cleaned out cookie file. I have windows 98 so microsoft anti spyware will not work. What do I do? |

What do I do? >. >-------Reply--------- Even if you had a very new computer system and say even Windows XP home edition, MSAS still may very well not remove your spy/adware: This has happened to me in my case (ref "Tim" May 19, 2005 7:32 pm post) and many others in this newsgroup and so maybe look for other antispyware and wait until the final release of MSAS is out. That's just my opinion. Although it's irritating for all of us with spyware still on our systems (me too still), I can see if MS does not reply directly to our issues immediately; (maybe they run really lean also as a corporation?) this would take up their time for getting real work done on the final MSAS version to come out. Finally, some say that generally PF8 at reboot might work (it did not in my case but maybe for you). So I am just living with irritating spyware for now. (annoying & not happy!). Good Luck to you. |

This is supposedly the #2 malware removal tool after Microsoft Antispyware from what I can tell that the PC media community writes. So since MS Antispyware did not work for my malware problems (MSAS detected some small pieces of malware but removed nothing) as well, I thought to try www.lavasoftusa.com. It did work!!! So maybe it will work for you. Once in the site go to "downloads" then turn off your pop-up blocker and then follow the instructions very carefully for downloading Ad-Aware SE Personal (the freeware edition). I hope it works for you, DON'T WAIT AROUND as this malware stuff seems to slowly take over more & more of a computer the longer you wait even if one stops visiting any websites. |
