Hi Chris There's usually a uninstaller for this in the 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel The name could be CometCursor/Plus /Shop /Toolbar Comet- Comet Cursor 3.0 Running Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad-aware might clear this as this has been around for ages, download them and run them and MS Antispy in safe mode and see if it deletes this. Ad-Aware SE http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html? part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button Spybot Search & Destroy http://ejrs.com/spybot/spybot.exe Check the program files folder for comet or comet systems if its there then carry on with this if not then its probably a leftover registry entry thats causing it,hopefully the scanners or the add/remove screen entry if its there will solve this If you have the comet or comet systems folder Unregister the .dll Go to start>all programs> Accessories > Command Prompt Copy & paste this into the cmd screen and press enter: cd "%WinDir%\System" regsvr32 /u "c:\windows\System32\comet.dll" dont worry if it doesnt exist, close the command prompt Only use this next part if you are confident with regedit (Hijack This can be used to delete the run entries for this which you may find easier)But still finsh the rest and delete the comet folders To delete the Comet Reg keys : Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.) Browse to the keys (First click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then click the plus + then to SOFTWARE and the + Microsoft and so on to you get to the run folder): 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run' In the right pane, delete the values called 'DM_server' 'CC2KUI', if they exist. Delete all these if found : Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {1678F7E1-C422-11D0-AD7D-00400515CAAA} Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {96DA5BEE-4ACC-476C-B3EC-54C6730C4293} Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {D14D6793-9B65-11D3-80B6-00500487BDBA} Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {FE6BC4EF-5676-484B-88AE-883323913256} Browse to the key: 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar' In the right pane, delete the value called {FE6BC4EF-5676-484B-88AE-883323913256}, if it exists Browse to the key: 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar \ WebBrowser' In the right pane, delete the value called {FE6BC4EF-5676-484B-88AE-883323913256}, if it exists. Delete all these if they exist : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {1678F7E1-C422-11D0-AD7D-00400515CAAA} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {96DA5BEE-4ACC-476C-B3EC-54C6730C4293}' HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {D14D6793-9B65-11D3-80B6-00500487BDBA}' Exit the registry editor. Restart your computer. Start Windows Explorer and delete: C:\Program Files\Comet\ C:\Program Files\Comet Systems\ C:\Windows\System32\comet.dll Start Microsoft Internet Explorer. In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options. Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings. If you have any problems let me know and i will help where i can Regards Andy ![]() |
