I use to be able to update definitions, but I think since I
downloaded Sunbelt Counter Spy, which was highly recommended by PC World, I have had this problem. What can I do ? |

I had the same problem and had to uninstall counterspy to get MSAS to
download definitions again. I see Ed Barba confirms your suspicion about what's happening.
What does happen when you try to download definitions? Do you get an error message? -- FAQ for Microsoft Antispyware: http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Birddawg" <birddawg@gmail.com> wrote in message news:049901c533b3$14413ef0$a501280a@phx.gbl... >I use to be able to update definitions, but I think since I > downloaded Sunbelt Counter Spy, which was highly > recommended by PC World, I have had this problem. With firewall & AV, you must have only one real time
protection. With MSAS I don't noticed any side effect with SB-S&D but think this rule should be carefully tested by anyone wanting to run 2 (or more) concurrent AS real time protections. >-----Original Message----- >I had the same problem and had to uninstall counterspy to get MSAS to >download definitions again. > Ed > >"Birddawg" <birddawg@gmail.com> wrote in message >news:049901c533b3$14413ef0$a501280a@phx.gbl... >>I use to be able to update definitions, but I think since I >> downloaded Sunbelt Counter Spy, which was highly >> recommended by PC World, I have had this problem. I read another post on the announcements section about
your problem which is the same as mine. I can't do manual or automatic updates as I get a message "does not detect an internet connection". So now there's 3 of us with this problem. Any suggestions out there? >-----Original Message----- >I use to be able to update definitions, but I think since I >downloaded Sunbelt Counter Spy, which was highly >recommended by PC World, I have had this problem. There are way more than just three of you. There's a
whole bunch of us that have installed CounterSpy and now can't get our updates to work. There needs to be a hotfix done to correct this problem, as I've read in other blogs that if you uninstall CounterSpy, your comp. will freeze up completely because the uninstall takes out a major .dll file. What do we do now???? >-----Original Message----- >I read another post on the announcements section about >your problem which is the same as mine. I have uninstalled Counter Spy in add/remove programs without any adverse
effects on my system and got MSAS to get the new defs without any problems.
