yes you can.
If you want to do this in an automatic fashion, look for Disk Cleanup in accessories. -- FAQ for Microsoft Antispyware: http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:243801c5334c$fa0a5780$a601280a@phx.gbl... > can i erase the files that's inside this folder > C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local > Settings\Temp folder because its so full its wasting my > harddrive size. if i can erase it they should include > temp folder to the eraser track. > > |

I'd go ahead and clean it by hand--shouldn't be a problem--or use the app

I think the files that won't leave are the perf files. Try doing the disk
clean up in Safe Mode. -- Andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Bill Sanderson" <Bill_Sanderson@msn.com.plugh.org> wrote in message news:%23C80X85MFHA.1572@CPMSFTNGSA04.privatenews.microsoft.com... > I'd go ahead and clean it by hand--shouldn't be a problem--or use the app > plun has been plugging to clean. > > -- > FAQ for Microsoft Antispyware: > http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm > > <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:24d201c5335e$5fcfe650$a601280a@phx.gbl... >>i use disk cleanup and the C:\Documents and Settings\your >> username\Local Settings\Temp is still not empty alot >> of .tmp files is on the folder. disk cleanup doesn clean >> Temp folder >> >>>-----Original Message----- >>>yes you can. >>> >>>If you want to do this in an automatic fashion, look for >> Disk Cleanup in >>>accessories. >>> >>>-- >>>FAQ for Microsoft Antispyware: >>>http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm >>> >>><anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >>>news:243801c5334c$fa0a5780$a601280a@phx.gbl... >>>> can i erase the files that's inside this folder >>>> C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local >>>> Settings\Temp folder because its so full its wasting my >>>> harddrive size. if i can erase it they should include >>>> temp folder to the eraser track. >>>> >>>> >>> >>> >>>. >>> > > |

My understanding of the "model" under which this operates is that Temp is
allowed to build up until there's an issue with disk space, in which case Disk Cleaner is automatically triggered (happens at every startup on my machine!)--and takes care of it. I've never investigated whether disk cleaner leaves a lot behind--I wouldn't expect it, and will try to remember to check it some time. As a devotee of the command prompt, I tend to clean by hand anyway. I like the feeling of grabbing the bytes between the fingertips and yanking them free of that sticky stuff on the disk platters and seeing them disappear completely without any of that recycle bin nonsense. -- FAQ for Microsoft Antispyware: http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "plun" <paralun@msn.com> wrote in message news:uuQrk48MFHA.1996@cpmsftngsa05.privatenews.microsoft.com... > Bill Sanderson wrote: >> I'd go ahead and clean it by hand--shouldn't be a problem--or use the app >> plun has been plugging to clean. > > Yea... ![]() > > http://www.ccleaner.com/ > > this also cleans index.dat....!!! > > And Bill, normal users have indeed problem when they see this > "temporarily mess" first time and they also leaves a lot....... > > -- > plun |
