Does the Microsoft beta remove the 'desktop.exe' malware?

Is there an online listing or search of the viruses,
malware and spam that the Microsoft software can manage?

There is no list available, I'm afraid.

If I am correct, this file is a part of one or more LOP.COM variants.

I've heard conflicting stories on this one, which probably indicate that
Microsoft Antispyware can remove some variants but not others.

I would certainly recommend trying it.

Boy, it would be good to have a public list of the variants that the spyware
can clean. Microsoft has the information about what 'signatures' they are
looking for. This makes you think that Microsoft is 'looking' for something
that they don't want you to know about.....

I will try the Microsoft spyware and see what it impact it will have on the
desktop.exe malware.
This seems to be a rather nasty-one. I have searched the internet and not
really see an effective removal process for this yet. There is a manual
removal process I have recently found (rather involved) but I have not tried
that yet.

I'll post the results of what luck I have with the MSFT Spyware....

Good luck. If it is identified, but cleaning does not "persist" in normal
mode, please try restarting in safe mode and redoing the scan and removal.
