A quote from Bill Sanderson earlier post Here are two variations of a probable fix for your issue, depending on which version of windows you are running: 1) For Windows XP, Service Pack 2: At a command prompt, type: netsh winsock reset Hit enter, then restart the machine. 2) For all other Windows versions involved in this beta: Follow the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;817571 After completing these steps, some applications which add themselves to the Winsock LSP stack may need to be reinstalled. It would also be helpful to the beta program if you could post in this thread the contents of the "cleaner.log" file which is stored in the directory the Microsoft Antispyware program is installed in. This will help the team prevent this occurrence in the future. (You should check those contents carefully to see whether there is any Personally Identifiable Information present--i.e. stuff that could identify you as an individual--it isn't likely, but it's a good idea to check before posting) |

Danny Kile has posted an older version of the advice for this error.
Microsoft now has a KB article explaining in greater detail how to fix this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892350 "confused" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1b0a01c50169$76194a90$a401280a@phx.gbl... > Downloaded, installed and ran spyware.
