Default Beta spyware

I installed the beta spyware and thought it was great. I
saw it get rid of adware that I had failed to delete even
from add or remove programs.
Nows the problem. I can no longer get on the net. Had to
borrow this computer to seek help.
It appears that my windows firewall is on but I cannot
turn it off or on.
Help, Anyone else have the solution or the same problem

You are not the only one that is experiencing that
firewall issue. I'm personally looking into it. I can't
see why it is happening as I've installed it on different
computers (different brands too) since it came out
(probably well over 20 by now) and the firewall remains
active. My question though is whether there is a third
party firewall on the side? What error do you get (if
any) when attempting to activate the Windows Firewall?

Hi BGotham,

{snagged from MVP Bill Sanderson}

Use the method below which fits your OS version. If you are on XP SP2, use
the second method:

1) (winsock reset for 2k, xp pre sp2, and 2003 pre sp1)

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;817571

2) (Winsock reset for xpsp2)

netsh winsock reset

enter
restart machine.

After resetting Winsock, applications which have added themselves to the
stack will need to be reinstalled. These may include third-party VPN
clients, some McAfee privacy or network security related software, and
others--check what is working and what is not.
