Does anyone from Microsoft answer these questions or am I
relying on good samaritans out there?

I doubt they have anybody answering these. Usually it's
just us good samaritans. I can get rid of your about
blank for you if MS's new toy can't. Get HijackThis.exe
from http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/HijackThis.exe
SCAN your system then SAVE LOG and send me the log at
rkinner "at" att "dot" net. Put HijackThis in the subject
line so I will know it's not SPAM. I'll write back and
tell you what to do next.

Or if you prefer, post your log as a attachment to a new
thread at:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/...ategoryhome.do?
categoryId=181

Again put HijackThis in the subject.

Ron

It does have some browser hijacking deterrents in it. You
can set up all your browser defaults and then if your
browser does get hijacked, run the tool and it should
restore your settings.

I've also seen it pop up on me when an app tries to change
my home page. I get the option to allow or deny, and to
remember my selection.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Ron. I certainly appreciate your help. I will
try their new toy first and if it doesn't work I will take
you up on the offer.

Thanks again!
