Default AntiSpyware - acting crazy need help!

1)when I start up my system and microsoft antispayware
loads up I will see up to 6 microsoft antispyware system
tray icons? when I mouse over each of them they disapear
also

2)When I open "MSASW v.1" (microsoft antispayware verison
1) and try to enable things.. I get the for ever hour
glass.

3) I tried to uninstall and re install with no change.

how can I get a true clean uninstall and reinstall of
MSASW v.1

and will that fix my problem.

my system info:
Windows XP Pro w/service pack 2 updated.
Windows Firewall: off
1024 ram

Rather than uninstalling, please try Control Panel, add or remove programs,
Microsoft Antispyware, Change, Update.

I take it that since you haven't been able to do any useful work with the
program, you've been unable to clean your machine?

Have you tried other tools, in the meantime? Lavasoft's Ad-aware, or
Safer-networking's Spybot Search & Destroy? Or even an online scan with an
antivirus scanner which also targets adware:
