I've downloaded this thing via Windows Update, more than
once seemingly. Now I'm poking around in the System Tools and admin-tools menus and there's no trace of this damned thing. In typical infantile Microsoft fashion, their useless Web site says to go to the Start button and "all programs." Adult professionals are not using the Playpen Professional UI that Windows XP ships with. We're using the regular Windows (so-called "classic") interface, which does not have the stupid categories in the program launcher area. So how the hell do you launch the removal tool? This is pathetic. |

Adult? Professional?
Pathetic! The program (if installed) you will find in Start>Programs Gr. Francis;
You seem to be confusing two different tools. Are you referring to the Malicious Software Removal Tool? That is not the same as Microsoft AntiSpyware. The MSRT runs, does its job and leaves, it is not installed. The MSRT comes monthly from Windows Update, Microsoft AntiSpyware does not. Malicious Software Removal Tool: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830 Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/sec...re/default.mspx -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar In memory of our dear friend, MVP Alex Nichol http://www.dts-l.org "Francis Sawyer" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:182901c5310f$e8ab5460$a601280a@phx.gbl... > I've downloaded this thing via Windows Update, more than > once seemingly. I too run it in "adult Professional mode", which sounds a lot better than
"I run it in classic mode because I'm getting old and am having a hard time with change" <G> -- Regards; Rob ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Segovia" <incorrect@malformed.invalid> wrote in message news:sb6y2ersn2s1$.jk4gnmtsy4d6.dlg@40tude.net... > On Thu, 24 Mar 2005 23:54:44 -0800, Francis Sawyer wrote: > > > Adult professionals are not using the Playpen Professional > > UI that Windows XP ships with. > > I'm 38 years old, and use XP in Playpen mode. :-( > > My wife is like you. I downloaded from the MS site and as it turns out, after installation, the program shows up on the Start Menu in both views/interfaces (with an Uninstall button) on my machine as well as in Windows Explorer. In addition, there's an icon on my Task Bar. I had to right click on my Start Menu to "Sort By Name" so that it appeared alphabetized. You may have downloaded the Installation .exe but it has to be activated - try searching for "MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall" and double click it. |
