Default Error 103 - failure

Downloaded & installed on Toshiba Satellite 2400-251 w/
XP Pro. Received error 103. Uninstalled re-downloaded,
multiple times, to no avail. Any suggestions? I have
searched all of Microsoft and checked DCOM - running in
local console. Program will NOT initialize/run

Rather than uninstalling and reinstalling, please try:

control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware, Change,
update.

This may well work better than remove/reinstall.

--------------------------------------
from Known Issues, help for Microsoft Antispyware:

* If you see a dialog box with the following message after you start your
computer or when you start Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware, you need to repair
or reinstall Windows AntiSpyware. The following message can also refer to
Error 102 or Error 103:

Warning: Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware has encountered a critical error
(Error 101). Please restart Windows AntiSpyware and run the program again.
If you continue to experience this problem, please uninstall the program and
install the most recent version of Windows AntiSpyware. You can use Add or
Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall this version of Windows
AntiSpyware.

You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in Control
Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and then
click Update.

If you see the critical error message again, uninstall Windows AntiSpyware
and reinstall it. To do this, use Add or Remove Programs in the Windows
Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Remove. You can
reinstall Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware at

Thanks for the response.

I have done that multiple times as well. Is it possible
that by trying to install on my "D" partition [C is OS
only, D is programs, E is documents, etc.] that the
program is not "happy" and MUST reside on the C partition
with the OS?

Default Re: Error 103 - failure

It is possible that this is involved, but my machine boots from C, has
Windows installed on E, and Microsoft Antispyware lives on D, so it is
capable of dealing with this kind of complexity sometimes!

OK - you are on Pro, and have checked on DCOM--can't remember in detail what
that involves, frankly.

Have you looked at ERRORS.LOG in the directory where Microsoft Antispware is
installed, to see whether any OCX or DLL files are named in error message
lines? If you find errors mentioning specific files, sometimes registering
those DLL or OCX files does the job.

Did you install as a local admin? Does the system tray icon show upon
Windows start up?

What if you first double-click on gcasDtServ.exe, then try to run the app??
