install just stops with no error messages

Hello,

I downloaded the install file and ran it. The first
screen pops up and I just hit continue. After that, the
installer just seems to stop completely. No installer is
running in memory and I can rerun the installer again to
the same result.

It's like a loop over and over again. If anyone has
experienced this, I would really like to know. Also, if
anyone has fixed it or is there anything I could try to fix
it myself. I have winXP home currently up-to-date. Thanks
very much in advance.

Try, at a command prompt:

net start 'windows installer

and hit enter.

Then try the install.
