Here is what I am getting with the 101 error on Startup in the event log:
Unable to start a DCOM Server: {0DE200BA-4B11-49C4-83F9-9E1F749E5700}. The error: "D:\Program Files\Internet\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe -Embedding is not a valid Win32 application. " Happened while starting this command: D:\Program Files\Internet\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe -Embedding I tried doing the Add/Remove Programs and Updating the installation, still does not work on my machine. WinXP SP2, all updates applied. |

Hi,
I had the same problem! But the info you posted helped me! Not sure if you got the problem fixed by now or not but from the information you posted I gathered that something was preventing the event/application required to open the program was not starting. So I "Manualy" started them all first... Open the main directory you installed too, and run all the ".exe" files but do the "GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe" last. the software started up fine for me after that! NOTE: I figured that it is acctualy some current spyware on my PC that is blocking the Programs functions... so before I did the above steps I opened Task Manager and closed all apps and processes that were for the current user/admin that I was opperating in. >-----Original Message----- >Here is what I am getting with the 101 error on Startup in the event log: > >Unable to start a DCOM Server: {0DE200BA-4B11-49C4-83F9- 9E1F749E5700}. All found options didn't help me any further with this
problem. Using the line : "C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe" -Embedding at RUN did help me. No re-install was needed after doing this, it ran suddenly. Config: XPSP2 Maybe this is the solution for this problem, at least I hope so !!! Regards, Harro >-----Original Message----- >Uh.....read my original post again I tried that. It (finally) worked for me too!
Thanks for this absolutely wonderful help! I tried for two days to get Giant running! This command - whatever it does .. is great. WHAT DOES THIS COMMAND ACTUALLY DO? Anyway, I found out the QUOTES are critical! Windows XP apparently can't handle spaces. Funny, I remember XP Marketing blurbs saying it does. This worked for me on the critical error 101 problem: Start/Run/Cmd/ENTER C:\"My Programs"\"Microsoft Antispyware"\gcasDtServ.exe -Embedding Now, my question is WHAT DOES THIS COMMAND DO? Donna D. >-----Original Message----- >All found options didn't help me any further with this >problem.
