Default Install problem using Windows 2000...

The download worked correctly but when I went to install
the spyware software I got an error message stating I most
be running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. I am running
Windows 2000. Anyone have an idea what what problem is?

Thanks.

I've installed it without a problem on Windows 2000 Professional SP4.

Are you using Professional or Server? Which Service Pack are you up to?

Does your system meet all of the system requisites?

Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta): System requirements

Have you made any changes to any registry keys/values that may affect how
your operating system is identified?

I just downloaded any critical updates that I may have
missed and I'm still getting that error message whem I'm
trying to install.

Here's a really stupid question... I have Windows ME and
have always assumed that it's the same as Windows 2000.
Is that my problem? I haven't made any changes to my
system registry and there isn't an issue with system
requirements that I can see.

Thanks for your help.

Jody,

It will run on Win 2K and up, but will NOT on Win 9x
( Windows98, 98SE, ME ). Sorry about the confusion.

Jody,

Was replying to the Win ME user ... try installing
Windows Installer 3.0 Redistributable

Yes. Windows ME is based on the Windows 9x platform and was always
intended for consumer (home) use only, while Windows 2000 is based on
the NT platform and was intended for corporate use. They are totally
different creatures.
