I start the install proccess and it stops about 1/4th of
the way across the status bar. It just keeps the status window up but never progresses. I ahve restarted the machine, redownloaded the file and even waited 25 minutes and no change. Is there any log file that gets written to during the install that might help troubleshoot this? Thanks, Steve |

Computer sat on the screen mentioned below for 37 minutes
before it continuted the install. After the install was successful the machine ran extreamly slow till I did a forceful reboot (would not shut down). >-----Original Message----- >I start the install proccess and it stops about 1/4th of >the way across the status bar. I had the same wait problem on my laptop. Sat there at 1/4th complete for a
loooong time. Thought it had hung so rebooted, retried many times. Eventually I just let it sit there and eventually it completed the install [not sure how long, but around 10 to 15 minutes I guess]. Very weird! I am running Win XP Pro SP2 with IE6 on a 700Mhz P3 laptop. 512Mb Ram. Have not yet rebooted it since installing - I am running my first full scan now. On my main desktop pc however, it all installed perfectly. That pc has the same OS & IE, and a P4-1600Mhz CPU with 1Gb ram. I am certain the wait on the laptop was *not* just because of the lower specs. Watching the process in Task Manager - there were 4 msiexec.exe's running, as well as MSAntiSpyware.exe. None of them were doing anything during that wait period - 0 percent CPU utlisation and the memory used was staying the same. Nothing else was using much CPU. Hope this info helps. Cheers, Mike "Steve Good" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:073e01c4f43b$e33a40b0$a301280a@phx.gbl... > Computer sat on the screen mentioned below for 37 minutes > before it continuted the install.
