I know it is quite common to refer folks to lspfix at cexx.com for fixing
lsp issues that cause loss of internet connectivity. While I agree it is a good tool, it is also a difficult tool for the uninitiated. Making a wrong move with that little gem can cause some real problems. I'd like to suggest that those that are not familiar with that tool and how to use it should consider the winsock repair that can be downloaded at http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257 If you notice the screen shot, there is not much to figure out with this tool. Simply click backup to back up the registry in case things blow up, then clicking a simple Fix button for an automatic rebuild of the winsock. This tool eliminates the need to know which specific lsp entries to remove. The downside is that if there are any legit programs that inserted lsp entries they will have to be re-installed, but recovery chances are much higher with this tool. -- Spider http://web.tampabay.rr.com/spider1 |
