and running, it found a whole host of spyware programs. I removed them and now i cannot connect to the internet. I do not know what to do now. |

Do what I did, take it to a computer repair place, pay
them the $110 for two to three hours labor and then never download or use the program again. I lost my IP address and networking capability, my firewall capability, my Norton AntiVirus program, and for some odd reason, my MS Calendar program gives me an MSDART.dll program error whatever that is. I should hopefully have my computer home on Thursday. This is one program I will not run again and advise against other novice users to use. >-----Original Message----- >after installing the microsoft antispyware beta program >and running, it found a whole host of spyware programs. Here are two variations of a probable fix for your issue, depending on which
version of windows you are running: 1) For Windows XP, Service Pack 2: At a command prompt, type: netsh winsock reset Hit enter, then restart the machine. 2) For all other Windows versions involved in this beta: Follow the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;817571 After completing these steps, some applications which add themselves to the Winsock LSP stack may need to be reinstalled. It would also be helpful to the beta program if you could post in this thread the contents of the "cleaner.log" file which is stored in the directory the Microsoft Antispyware program is installed in. This will help the team prevent this occurrence in the future. (You should check those contents carefully to see whether there is any Personally Identifiable Information present--i.e. stuff that could identify you as an individual--it isn't likely, but it's a good idea to check before posting) "Mark" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:22a501c4f8f4$8e6e04a0$a501280a@phx.gbl... > after installing the microsoft antispyware beta program > and running, it found a whole host of spyware programs. This is a Beta Program... the name suggests that a novice
should not be using it anyway. When trialing a program maybe you should consider createing a system restore point so as you have somewhere to restore too. I have used the program and had much success. I wish you well in your future computing but leave the trialing of products to those who do know how to repair any problems that may arise Regards >-----Original Message----- >Do what I did, take it to a computer repair place, pay >them the $110 for two to three hours labor and then never >download or use the program again. If running XP, Winsockxpfix.exe from
http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/winfix.shtm will work wonders. If not then try lspfix.exe http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm Ron >-----Original Message----- >Here are two variations of a probable fix for your issue, depending on which >version of windows you are running: > >1) For Windows XP, Service Pack 2: > >At a command prompt, type: > >netsh winsock reset > >Hit enter, then restart the machine. > >2) For all other Windows versions involved in this beta: > >Follow the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: > >http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;817571 > >After completing these steps, some applications which add themselves to the >Winsock LSP stack may need to be reinstalled. > >It would also be helpful to the beta program if you could post in this >thread the contents of the "cleaner.log" file which is stored in the >directory the Microsoft Antispyware program is installed in.
