I see the Windupdates Browser Plugin threat but it is
identified as a threat and removed. All subsequent scans
show no threats until I restart, at which point the
Windupdates Browser Plugin threat is found again.

One useful thing that you can do if you have such a resistent pest is to
file a Suspected Spyware Report, via Tools, suspected spyware report in the
antispyware application.

According to information here:

http://windupdates.com/

you can remove this one via add/remove programs.

I don't have a vast amount of faith in that statement, but it won't hurt to
look.

Easily removed with HijackThis.exe. Download and run the
program then SCAN your system and SAVE LOG.

Send the log to me and I will tell you what to do next.
