Can't log on to hotmail and other sites

I cannot seem to be able to access my hotmail account and
some other seemingly secured sites. I recently changed
certain things in my PC's regedit to get rid of a certain
problem. The changes were really very minor and
carefully done, so I'm not sure if that was the source of
my problem.
