Hello,
The same thing happened to me. The program found tapicfg.exe in c:\windows\system32. Then I had the program delete it only to find it again in the same spot. It seems the scanner does not see hidden directories. I found the tapicfg.exe program in C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache. If you delete a file from c:\windows\system32 and that same file exists in c:\windows\system32\dllcache, The operating system copies it back to c:\windows\system32. If you want to remove this program go to c:\windows\system32\dllcache and manually delete the tapicfg.exe from this location and either manually delete the tapicfg.exe from the c:\windows\system32 directory, or let the scanner do it for you. You don't need any special tools or anything, just delete it. Having said this, the reason it end's up on your system is because you have web surfed before updating your system with the newest patches which you can easily get from MS. The moral of the story: Update first, surf next, A suggestion for MS: It appears that the scanner does not look in hidden directories. have the scanner look in the dllcache. Best Regards Justin |
