A test of both the original and ms beta1 showed
that besides renaming everything to Microsoft, MS have removed some advanced tools: * Advanced Tools\System Tools\ - System Explorers\"Internet Applications" removed - System Inoculation removed * Advanced Tools\Privacy Tools\ - "Secure File Shredder" removed Sad to note that they have dropped functionality for no obvious reason. a little improvement though: * Real-Time Protection - System Agents "Windows Services" added Hopefully MS will make the product not worse, for Giant AntiSpyware was a great (independent) tool. I guess they plan to add these features exclusively in the paid version.
Giant AntiVirus wasn't free either. Giant wasn't free, but it was compatible with Win 9x. M$
had to go to extra expense and effort to REMOVE that compatibility. Nice work, Microsoft. >-----Original Message----- >I guess they plan to add these features exclusively in the paid version. >Giant AntiVirus wasn't free either. > > >"Thomas" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >news:0df201c4f407$854de6c0$a601280a@phx.gbl... >>A test of both the original and ms beta1 showed >> that besides renaming everything to Microsoft, >> MS have removed some advanced tools: >> >> * Advanced Tools\System Tools\ >> - System Explorers\"Internet Applications" removed >> - System Inoculation removed >> >> * Advanced Tools\Privacy Tools\ >> - "Secure File Shredder" removed >> >> Sad to note that they have dropped functionality >> for no obvious reason. >> >> a little improvement though: >> >> * Real-Time Protection >> - System Agents "Windows Services" added >> >> Hopefully MS will make the product not worse, >> for Giant AntiSpyware was a great (independent) tool. >> >> Thomas. > > >. > |

Indeed. I was thinking about getting a decent antispyware
program to my internet computer (which happens to have Windows 98SE), but apparently I'll just have to go with Spybot from now on. >-----Original Message----- >Giant wasn't free, but it was compatible with Win 9x.
