Reporting potential spyware

I ran No Adware 3.0 and it reported a potential homepage
hijacker which was not detected by AntiSpyware beta. I
used the tools option to report the potential spyware, the
AntiSpyware program then scanned my system to submit a
report, then the report was blocked by XP SP2 security
system because it indicated that the data in the report
could be used to access my computer. Why would this
happen?

Can you say more about what message you got that blocked sending the report?
I've just sent a test report from my own XP SP2 system with the firewall
active, and not seen any such complaints.

Since the Windows Firewall doesn't interfere with outbound communication, I
wonder what application it was that gave the alert and blocked?

Microsoft Suspected Spyware Reporting Tool reports
"An error occurred submitting the scan results. Plase
check you (sic) Internet proxy settings and try again"

When you click on the "View the raw scan result file..."
link, the file is opened in the active IE window (shutting
down what was active, in this case the Post a New Message
task) and then a pop up from the security center appears
with a yellow shield on the top of the screen with a
warning that the transmission has been blocked because it
contains information that could be used to access your
computer

Bob - the error message you got on the original submission was not very
helpful. I know several people reported difficulty submitting reports for a
time period yesterday. I tested very late in the day, and was able to
submit a report without any errors.

I'd suggest that you re-try sending the report--I'm hoping it will go
through properly now.

I hear you about the undesirable interactions that seem to happen when you
clicked on the "view the raw scan result file"--I'll test that out myself
and see what happens on my system. This is helpful feedback--thanks!
