Default XP firewall removal?

I am trying to connect Dsl to my comp. The tech at the
phone company said I must remove XP Firewall or it will
not accept? I have disabled it, still can't log on

You can't really just remove it - it's built in - and disabling it was all
you needed to do to deactivate it.

However, I can't think why you wouldn't be able to use your firewall on this
connection - I'd call the ISP back and ask to speak to someone who
understands what you're trying to do (as well as understanding the XP
firewall and firewalls in general). This sounds like they just gave you a
stock answer to make you go away, to me.

You can't remove the firewall; you can only disable it.
