Virus

I keep getting the following message periodically and
cant seem to rectify the problem even though I run the
AGV Anti Virus programme. Can you advise on what to do to
be rid of this once and for all. I'm not fortunate enough
to have a credit card, so I am unable to purchase instant
cures from most places. The message is :-Virus, Trojan
horse Downloader.Winfavorit.A is found in file
C:\System Volume Information\_restore(073BEA75-0EF6-4175-
871F-1DCB52B116D0)-\RP178\A0148179.exe
To remove this virus,please run AVG for Windows
I have done all it said,but still it keeps returning day
by day, sometimes several times per day and I cant get
rid of it.... Your thoughts please and many thanks.

anti-virus can't do anything to the system restore folder
except read it. This is the problem. Manually delete all
the files, turn system restore off, and use a real backup
system. Reading this group for a few will show you the
horrors of trying to get anything out of restore... it
rarely works, and wastes disk space.

C:\System Volume Information\ contains your restore points, which neither
AVG, nor any other AV software can disinfect. To remove the virus, do the
following:

1. Turn off system restore (Control Panel -> System -> System Restore tab)
2. Re-boot
3. Turn system restore back on

You will lose all of your restore points, but the virus will be removed.
