Default access denied. need help asap

i have a big problem. i had to do a system recovery and
when all was said and done my access to all my personal
folders was denied. i had a password on my account
before i did the recovery. afterwards i set up my
account again exactly as before then my folders showed
up. the problem is that i still have no access to them.
no matter how i try to open it it says access denied.
thanks for any help.
