Default Installing Norton Internet Security 2004

The Norton Internet Security 2004 product won't install
on my Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002,
Service Pack 1, File System NTFS. I quit all other
windows programs before beginning the installion
process. I also uninstalled all other security
systems. I did the Norton virus scan about 4 times & it
did not turn up a virus any of those 4 times, however I
still deleted remaining installation files (run dialog
box, typed %TEMP% & deleted all files that could be
deleted). I disabled the Windows XP firewall also before
attempting to install Norton Internet Securty. However,
after doing all of this, I still get the Error #1722
saying that there's a problem with this windows
installers package...a program run as part of the setup
did not finish as expected & to contact support personnel
or package vendor (I have no idea who that is or how to
reach them). Occasionally I get the pop-up message that
says "your current security settings prohibit running
Active X controls on this page....as a result, the page
may not display correctly" and I'm wondering if that may
have something to do with my problem here??? What should
I do now to get the Norton 2004 Internet Security
installed successfully on my computer???
