no access to original files after xp re-load

Default no access to original files after xp re-load


Due to an error on the C: disk??corrupt or missing c:
\windows\system32\config\system?
I reinstall Windows XP [Home].
However having re-registered [using my original name and
password], I cannot gain access to my original personal
files [all my data files, within Documents and Settings].
I can see the directory with my name that holds these files
and although I have used the same password at administrator
level ? it states I do not have authority to access these
files.
Can you please provide assistance with this problem?
