cannot log on as administrator

Trying to log on as administrator the desktop seems quite normal with shortcuts, icons and taskbar BUT as soon as I click on any of the items the screen is dead. To go on I have to reboot the computer and use my ordinary user account. The rest of my family can use user-accounts. I cannot do anything according to administration duties!
Anyone out there to help me?
