Moving Windows XP to my new computer

Default Moving Windows XP to my new computer


No OS is installed on my new computer, can I use the XP
disk from my old computer without paying for it again?

If the XP is a full retail version, not an OEM version,
and you fully uninstall it, then it can be installed on
the new machine. OEM versions are only allowed to
be installed on the original machine where they were
first installed.

Greetings --

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
