This is the error I get (now that I can read it). I have searched MS for
answers but cannot understand everything properly. Any ideas?

I'm seeing the same thing after taking Windows 2000 Server(Eng) from
SP3 to SP4. So far Word2000(Eng) and FileMaker Pro 5 cause the
problem during application startup. The pwgdi.dll file is a part of
the Minolta Pageworks printer driver, in my case for the Pageworks
1100L printer, v.22.

So far I haven't found a solution, or even another search hit on
pwgdi.dll besides this post. Let me know if you find anything.

I went on the Minolta website - guess what? They do not support the Minolta
Pageworks 1100L printer for Windows 2000. I had a really hard time getting
it to work with SP3 but now with SP4 it's impossible. I have just deleted it
from my system (as we are getting a new printer here in a few days anyway).
I know this doesn't help you but it's all I've got. The problem comes when
the printer is partially or fully initialized. Some programs initialize the
printer on start-up, others only when you print. Best bet, make a different
printer your default for now (even a generic fax machine if you don't have
another printer) and see if anyone else has any ideas.

Well, got exactly the same problem with my Minolta PagePro 1100L.
Since it's a rather new printer, I've got to get it working.

Any ideas?

Don't install SP4, if you have and don't need it, roll back to SP3.
Download the lastest driver (pp11l_us.exe) for windows 2000 from Minolta
(http://onlinehelp.qms.com/CPDocs/q1100100.htm)
The printer will run with Windows 2000 SP3 so long as you are directly
connected to the printer (no network connections - this printer can't handle
them).
Call Minolta at 877-778-2687 for more information.

This is from the Minolta website:

The Minolta-QMS PageWorks/Pro 1100L printer for United States (110 volt)
is not supported in Windows XP. Contact us at 877-778-2687 in the US/Canada
(select here for other countries) for more information.

The same here with me.
It's definitely caused by the printer drivers. Uninstalling them fixes
the crash problem, but you can't print anymore. The drivers cannot be
installed after deinstall because the pwgdi.dll will cause a crash
during setup.
I mailed to the Minolta support.
You should do the same. Perhaps people there move their asses and
release a new printer driver.

Ciao,
Dirk

Just got the final answer back from minolta support. They say its a
Microsoft problem, that it is occuring with other printer drivers
under sp4, not just theirs. Yet I can find nothing under the MS
Knowledgebase for this error. So it looks like we're just getting
blown off, unless anyone else has heard of other sp4 printer driver
problems.

I have the same problem with my Minolta Pageworks 1100l. I just got
off the phone with Minolta and they said I should call Microsoft, that
it's their problem with SP4.

I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled SP4 and now my printer
is working again. I hope MS comes out with a fix soon so I can
reinstall SP4 and get all the security fixes back.

win2k sucks big time, and a lousy installation applications.

This will be my first and last product from minolta/qms.
