After initially installing Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), my boss wanted me
to scrap it and install separate versions of the apps. That way, we save money on licensing. Excel & Word installs with no problems using msi files that come with the media. But, Outlook 2000 SR-1 doesn't want to install unless its part of an Office install. The MsiInstaller program throws Event ID 1000 at me, and says to use the resource kit instructions to install it. It's been a while, but I seem to remember reading in the ORK manual that Outlook must be installed when doing an initial Office install and cannot be later added. Anyone done an install of the separate apps? |

When you tried to install Outlook, did you try using the
transform file (termsrvr.mst) to make the install terminal server friendly? -M >-----Original Message----- >After initially installing Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), my boss wanted me >to scrap it and install separate versions of the apps. Matthew,
First, sorry if you got several posts from me; I must have been asleep at the switch when I kept pressing "reply" instead of "reply to group" ![]() The answer to the question is, yes, I used the transform file but probably used the data1.msi from the Outlook 2000 SR-1 cd (if that makes any difference). Hmm...maybe this link will help (although you'll have to
excuse me if you already saw this): support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;222303&Product=out2K -M >-----Original Message----- >Matthew, > >First, sorry if you got several posts from me; I must have been asleep at >the switch when I kept pressing "reply" instead of "reply to group" ![]() > >The answer to the question is, yes, I used the transform file but probably >used the data1.msi from the Outlook 2000 SR-1 cd (if that makes any >difference). > >"Matthew Harris [MVP]" <harris@crocker.ucdavis.edu> wrote in message >news:0ecf01c38943$49ba0dd0$a301280a@phx.gbl... >> When you tried to install Outlook, did you try using the >> transform file (termsrvr.mst) to make the install terminal >> server friendly? >> >> -M >> >> >-----Original Message----- >> >After initially installing Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), >> my boss wanted me >> >to scrap it and install separate versions of the apps. >> That way, we save >> >money on licensing. I checked out the link, but it talks in terms of an Office installation -
not Outlook. I'm checking other web sites but haven't found anything that resembles the installation senario I'm up against. Thanks for the help.
