Hi. I just installed Windows 2000 on my machine that also
runs 98. After using it for a while, I've decided that 2000 isn't for me, but getting rid of it seems kind of tricky. It was set up on a dual boot mode (i.e when it boots, you select either 98 or 2000. I didn't partition the c:\ drive so as far as I know, both systems are on the same partition. If anyone could let me know how to get rid of 2000, I'd be really, really grateful! Thanks. |

You can boot with your Win98 startup disk and issue the command
sys C: this will rewrite the boot sector, then you can delete these files boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect.com, bootsect.dos, pagefile.sys and possibly ntbootdd.sys from the root of the System partition C:\., then you can delete the Windows 2000 boot partition or possibly the \winnt directory (whichever the case) -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup.
