good morning,
i am trying to apply sp4 to a win2k pro desktop running sp2. i am using my technet cd. the install starts, i choose to archive the files, and while the install is analyzing my system the install stops. the error message refers to an application or process having the batmeter.dll (c:\winnt\system32\dllcache\batmeter.dll) file in use or open. all programs and applications have been turned off. same message. i have run anti-virus scans. same message. how can i determine what application or process is using batmeter.dll so that i can shut it off? any help is appreciated. stuart |

good morning,
i investigated this more last night.... batmeter.dll is being called by the explorer process. obviously i cannot stop the explorer process. i cannot delete/rename batmeter.dll. i have scanned the box for virus (symantec and online pandasoftware) and nothing pops up. i have run spybot s&d and no trojan activity appears. any suggestions? stuart >-----Original Message----- >good morning, > >i am trying to apply sp4 to a win2k pro desktop running >sp2. i am using my technet cd. the install starts, i >choose to archive the files, and while the install is >analyzing my system the install stops. the error message >refers to an application or process having the >batmeter.dll (c:\winnt\system32\dllcache\batmeter.dll) >file in use or open. > >all programs and applications have been turned off. same >message. i have run anti-virus scans. same message. > >how can i determine what application or process is using >batmeter.dll so that i can shut it off? > >any help is appreciated. > >stuart >. > |

I had a similar problem, but it turned out that the file
was not in use, just the the security information had been removed. When I made the changes to the file so that it was available to everyone again, the install went fine. Hope this gives you a possibility. >-----Original Message----- >good morning, > >i am trying to apply sp4 to a win2k pro desktop running >sp2. i am using my technet cd. the install starts, i >choose to archive the files, and while the install is >analyzing my system the install stops. the error message >refers to an application or process having the >batmeter.dll (c:\winnt\system32\dllcache\batmeter.dll) >file in use or open. > >all programs and applications have been turned off. same >message. i have run anti-virus scans. same message. > >how can i determine what application or process is using >batmeter.dll so that i can shut it off? > >any help is appreciated. > >stuart >. > |
