I have the same problem as a few others it seems, but I
have data (College Papers) I need to retrieve prior to doing a clean install. Upgrading pc from W98SE to W2Kpro. However, when it reaches the Performing Final Tasks screen, the setup stops on the "Upgrades program and system settings" step, reboots, and starts the Performing Final Tasks all over again... I let this run all night last night, and it never finished. Any ideas on how to get the W2Kpro upgrade to finish successfully so I can salvage the "My Documents" folder?!?!?! |

Ryan,
To retrieve your data you'll want to do a parallel installation (a installation of Windows 2000 into a new directory other then Windows or WINNT and leave the file system intact). This clean install should allow you to pull off any personal data. KevinAnd [MSFT] - "This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights." I am facing the exact same problem.
My question is how can I do a parallel installation? Each time I reboot my computer now, it starts with the exact same point where it had stopped the installation of Windows 2000. I am not able to go back to the start of Windows 2000 installation. Thanks. >-----Original Message----- >Ryan, > >To retrieve your data you'll want to do a parallel installation (a >installation of Windows 2000 into a new directory other then Windows or >WINNT and leave the file system intact).
