we have a raid5E setup on our server. win2k advanced
server. we have a data volume where all documents & other files of our work are stored, this volume contains no system files. this volume has run out of space. we added new HDD but i cannot extend this volume as this is basic volume, so i upgraded it to dynamic volume. but still i cannot extend as it doest support an upgrade. now what i intend on doing is to create a new volume as dynamic using the HDDs i have and then extend the 1st volume into this. is this possible? please advice me on if this the best way out? or is there any other better solution? can u help me with any documentations for creating a raid5e volume? |

It has to be created dynamic at the start. However there was a better solution while the volume was basic. Diskpart can be used to extend a basic volume as long as the additional space is contigious to the first. http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;325590 Leonard Severt Windows 2000 Server Setup Team -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |
