Default upgrading to sp4

upgrading to service pack 4 brings on error "unable to
connect to metabase" error followed by "unable to remove
ism.dll script mappings"

Reloaded 2000 and also emergency repair from cd. when
trying to put in service pack 4, the problem continues.

Tried service pack on another system 2000 computer. ok

need help to solve problem

Just to let you know that I also ran into similar
problems. The error messages were
"Unable to log event.
Unable to connect to metabase.
Setup failed to remove ism.dll script mappings."
I then downloaded the full 132MB upgrade package instead
of using the online express upgrade, and the same thing
happened.

Like you, I installed the upgrade on my laptop without
problems. Subtle.

Do you have IIS set to enabled in Services.msc?
If not start IIS, or move it to Automatic or Manual, and try to update the
system.
