When installing SP4 for a W2K Pro I get a message with the
title "sp4iis" and the body "Unable to connect to metabase." Only option is OK and after that I get a new message with the same title but with the body "Setup failed to remove ism.dll script mappings. Service Pack Setup will abort." SP4 proceeds to uninstall itself cleanly. And system re- boots. No other problem. Happened both with Express and Network Installs. |

I had the exact same problem.
I had the following users in "Computer Management - Local Users and Groups - Users" disabled: IUSR_servername IWAM_servername TSINTERNETUSER However, on our production web servers, we have these accounts either disabled or renamed. Or we rely on Active Directory accounts. We are unsure of how applying SP4 will effect our environment/permissions or why SP4 seems to rely on these accounts. I have been in contact with MS and they are apparently looking into it. I wouldn't install SP4 onto any IIS servers right now, if I were you. >-----Original Message----- >When installing SP4 for a W2K Pro I get a message with the >title "sp4iis" and the body "Unable to connect to >metabase." I'm having the same problems, however this is on one of my domain
controllers. I upgraded 11 DCs all with IIS installed with no problems. This one just craps out, however. I get a regsvr32.exe error and a metadata error and it's over. I have since demoted the DC just in case the server bombs completely and I have to reinstall from scratch. I have none of the computer management problems described below after the demotion and obviously none before. Any answers out there that can resolve this? bJ "AB" <AB@nospam.ca> wrote in message news:0a6a01c34235$27435590$a501280a@phx.gbl... > I had the exact same problem. > I had the following users in "Computer Management - Local > Users and Groups - Users" disabled: > IUSR_servername > IWAM_servername > TSINTERNETUSER > However, on our production web servers, we have these > accounts either disabled or renamed.
