Default ACPI PC HAL to ACPI Uniprocessor PC HAL ?

Hi,

Just wondering,

We are trying to reduce the number of images for our organization (500+ employees)
At this time, we have 3 types of images (HAL):
- Standard PC
- Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
- ACPI Uniprocessor PC

Is it possible to safely take a regular ACPI image, sysprep it and
convert it to the ACPI Uniprocessor HAL ?

I have seen some KB articles about replacing the hal.dll before
the PC boots up...

Does anybody have experience doing this ?

If so, could you share ?

Thanks

Default RE: ACPI PC HAL to ACPI Uniprocessor PC HAL ?

Kent,

It is not possible to move between those 2 hals. This article although
discusses Windows XP and 2003 applies to Windows 2000 as well

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...KB;EN-US;309283

We are looking to provide the ability to have a single image deployment
option in the next version of Windows.
