Boot Screen Question

When Windows2000 reaches the Black and White boot progress
screen sometimes a number will appear on the right of the
progress bar. I've only seen this happening on machines
that will not boot correctly.

I'm hoping that someone here will either know what the
numbers mean or point me to a page with this information?
