help on windows2003 setup

I installed winxppro on a compaq deskpro en. No problem.
I then rebooted machine with a win2003server cd in cd
holder and started to install win2003 on same partition
as xp but in a seperate directory. The first problem I
run into is a message stating 'cannot verify drive c:'. I
press enter and setup continues. The next problem is when
setup copies files from cd to hardrive, I get 'was not
able to copy vga.sys'. I press enter to retry and copying
contiues. This happens for about fifteen different files.
The only file it can't copy even when I press enter to
retry several times is 'driver.cab'. When setup reboots
and tries to contiue with setup, I get a stop:0x000000713
error message.

Suggestions have been to diable cpu cache, etc.

Does anyone know what is going on? Help
