Default Re-installation question

My system tells me that I'm missing files,(it doesn't tell
me which files are missing) and can't work with programs
already installed. I'd like to do a re-installation, but
do NOT want to re-format my hard drives. How do I go about
this???

Why not try from the "Run" box
sfc /scannow
