One way is to install a new copy of Windows 2000 preferably in a
another partition or in another folder (e.g., \Windows2 or \WINNT2) in
the partition of the existing Windows 2000. At the first reboot, dual
boot will already have been restored, so abort the installation by
repeatedly hitting the down arrow at the time when the boot menu
appears (the timeout is 1 second so you have to be quick). You can now
boot into Windows 98 and edit boot.ini to point to your old
installation and increase the timeout. After booting into Windows
2000, delete the aborted Windows 2000 installation.
