Thanks, but I think that there is a larger problem. I'll bet the help files
are on the computer. Otherwise I would not expect to get the table of
contents. Why can't I read any HTML files? I brought up the help file
problem because I thought they may be associated, e.g. does W2k use IE to
display the help files.

You can confirm if you have tons of hlp files by viewing your Help
folder, which should be under your system folder such as \winnt or
\windows, unless customized.

Maybe try right-click and Open With on an htm file on your
computer, to see if Internet Explorer is set to Always Use this
Program.

In the Control Panel's Internet Options, or in the browser
Tools..Internet Options, check the Advanced tab settings for http.

In My Computer or any local folder, the Tools..Options..File Types
tab should list Html Document filetypes as opened with Internet
Explorer, and the hlp Help File as opened with winhlp32.

If not, something strange happened. Is the latest service pack
involved, or is W2K installed without any SP so far?

Regards, RobH.
