I'll be darned if I can figure this out.
Symptoms: User is unable to print to local printer. HP 930c, Plug and Play using the P. Port. User is on an IBM thinkpad T23 running windows 2k on Service Pack 4. Get error 3003, Event ID 61. User is on a flat 2000 domain, mixed mode, with network printers. You can get the printer to print if you uninsall and reinstall the LPT port. Also upgrading the LPT driver fixed the issue but both of these fixes only work until a reboot, then the behavior reutrns. I was able to work around the issue by telling the LPT port to act as LPT2 instead of 1 in the driver settings. This works but the machine keeps finding a new device when it reboots..even though I've told it to disable that ghost device. This ghost Oddly enough the printer still shows as installed and works fine now. I've attempted the vairous fixes for this paticular error with the exception of re-applying SP4 and am at a loss as to what is causing this. Any ideas? Clyde |
