Cannot install Pagepro 1100L

Blue screen with KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED message
appear during installation, and machine must be rebooted.
It was suggested that the problem is SP4 and that I should
uninstall it before installing the printer. Does this make
sense? How can SP4 be uninstalled (it is not listed in the
Add/Remove Software screen). Thanks in advance for any
help.
