So there's another critical update - "We definitely want
people to apply this one," said Jeff Jones, Microsoft's senior director for trustworthy computing. If its that critical, you'd think that MS would make finding the patch easy. Instead I have to wade through the system scan that the web site does to tell me that I need to install 22 patches - not one of which is the latest critical update. And I know this machine has the vulnerability... How about a simple "this is the problem - now download this patch" solution. Or am I the only one that thinks that if there a straightforward solution or a complex solution MS will take the second option every time. |

Many critical updates must be installed before installing newer updates.
I suggest you visit the Windows Update website, download and install ALL the recommended critical updates. If you have not yet installed Service Pack 1, you need to install it first. -- Nicholas -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Steve Mepham" <ruralsoft@access.net.au> wrote in message: news:08e601c37873$5e265b10$a301280a@phx.gbl... | So there's another critical update - "We definitely want | people to apply this one," said Jeff Jones, Microsoft's | senior director for trustworthy computing. | If its that critical, you'd think that MS would make | finding the patch easy. | | Instead I have to wade through the system scan that the | web site does to tell me that I need to install 22 | patches - not one of which is the latest critical update. | And I know this machine has the vulnerability... | | How about a simple "this is the problem - now download | this patch" solution. | | Or am I the only one that thinks that if there a | straightforward solution or a complex solution MS will | take the second option every time. |
