Brian;
Then a password must have been set during setup. Could you have typed something it was not a password? Perhaps another user? Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank. Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel. Select the user and change the password. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] An easier way to read newsgroup messages: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...roups/setup.asp Please respond to newsgroup only for everyone's benefit. My daughter was able to log on without knowing my password by first crtl, alt, del and then when the next screen came up she typed administrator in the user name and the word password in the password space and it let her in. I wanted to know how I could prevent this from happening. But it might work for you. >. > |

Cathy;
Follow the same procedure that she used. Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel. Select Administrator. Select the option to change password. Take precautions to not lose the password. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] An easier way to read newsgroup messages: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...roups/setup.asp Please respond to newsgroup only for everyone's benefit. I've changed it a few times because I suspected she was getting on some how. All she has to do is type administrator and password and she's in. > |
