As designers get better and better with their sites they
create, I sometimes feel left behind when it comes to pictures. Clients can sometimes give you good pictures to use for their sites but sometimes they leave it up to you to design really professional good looking pictures with fading etc. Where and how is the best way to learn further in creating these types of pictures? Does anyone know and is willing to share their knowledge/expertise? |

Learn photography and image editing.
When I can't find a suitable image from stock photography houses or in my own pile of photos, I go out and take a photo specifically for their website...I charge extra if I have to start up my truck :-) Learn how to use a good image editing program...like Photoshop, etc. If you're talking graphics...that's a totally different area than photos. I use two different graphics programs - Illustrator and Xara X1 "Tessa Ford" <info@webford.co.nz> wrote in message news:03c401c50a7a$3562ea50$a501280a@phx.gbl... > As designers get better and better with their sites they > create, I sometimes feel left behind when it comes to > pictures. I sure that Photoshop Elements 3 or Paint Shop Pro will serve the purpose
very well and cost hundreds less! For starters read this article:

He didn't specify "the purpose" in any other than general terms("fading,
etc"). Those apps may indeed (and probably will) "serve the purpose," depending upon "the purpose," but what I said was true: Photoshop is the best. I didn't recommend it; I just stated the fact. -- HTH, Kevin Spencer Microsoft MVP ..Net Developer Neither a follower nor a lender be. "E. T. What do you use Illustrator (Adobe?) for? I thought that Illustrator uses
vector graphics that are not suitable for the web. Please explain. vector graphics yes, not vml. Then convert to gif or jpgs for use on the web. Vector graphics are outstanding, nice a crispy. I've kinda switched to Xara X1 now instead of Illustrator...it's cheaper, does more, and way easier! Vector is amazingly scalable too.

Illustrator is a graphics program good for drawing things -- making things from
scratch, doing fills and effects and stuff. If you wanted to make yourself a logo for instance, you would use Illustrator, not Photoshop Photoshop is primarily good for modifying / fixing up images. But it's not very useful for making graphics. Adobe sells both programs and makes it somewhat easy to go back and forth between them. Another choice is Macromedia's Fireworks. I like it because it is a single program that does a good job with graphics and also does much of what Photoshop does for images.. PaintShop Pro does most of the things Photoshop does but is much cheaper. I am not sure if it also does a good job of graphics like Fireworks does, or if it is pretty much limited to working with images like Photoshop is. But you need both capabilities. Either get them separately (like Photoshop and Illustrator) or get them in an integrated program (like Fireworks) On Fri, 4 Feb 2005 12:46:37 -0600, "Susan" <dsnsacree@msn.com> wrote: >What do you use Illustrator (Adobe?) for?
