Hello,
There is a lot of prep before installing Microsoft's XP Service Pack #2 that was last updated January 14, 2005. Additionally, I am to understand that a lot of software simply will not run with the new service pack. However, I have not found one single update for FrontPage 2003 in regards to the new service pack 2, nor have I ever found a single update for FrontPage 2003, such as drivers or flaw updates, or minor version improvements. For all those (like me) who have yet to install the new service pack #2 from MS, you must "CAREFULLY" read all of the information on the procedure from both MS as well as the manufacturer of your computer before installing the new service pack #2. If you outright install the new service pack #2, your computer will become quite ill. Either follow "ALL" of the instructions of which is somewhat involved or simply don't install the new service pack #2 at all. You have been warned. Be sure to visit http://www.microsoft.com/technet/se...n/ms04-028.mspx for a preliminary list of update you "MUST"perform long before you install the new service pack #2. But still, nothing is found for FP 2003 despite issue found below. (((Should I install the new service pack #2 or should I not?))) I am running Win XP Home Media Version Thank you in advance for your time. - James Here is what I have found so far below in regards to concerns. But note, the concerns found below may be the result of an incorrect installation of the new service pack #2 rather than conflicts. The following issues were found posted in NG's and cut and pasted here. Do these problems still exist with the latest version of Service Pack 2? Hover buttons not working after XP Service Pack 2 Problems with FrontPage after installing xp service pack 2 "I have 2 banner ads on my web that work fine until I install Service Pack 2" (Now this bulletin is interesting as follows) Caveats: If you have installed any of the affected programs or affected components listed in this bulletin, you should install the required security update for each of the affected programs or affected components. This may require the installation of multiple security updates. See the FAQ section of this bulletin for more information. .. FrontPage® 2002 .. As long as you have a clean install* of Windows XP and have applied SP1 and all other Updates, then
you will have no problems install SP2 and installing or continuing to run Office 2003 or individual application. All applications that run under Windows 2000 or Windows XP should work without problems with the exception of Disk Utilities and Anti-Virus application. Means that you did not upgrade to Windows XP from a prior version of Windows. -- ============================================== Thomas A. I'll speak for myself here, but I have not experienced one single problem
with SP2 that wasn't a user option or setting. Before installing, a good cleanup, chkdsk, and derfag probably will help. (and won't hurt either) Of course you should back up your data files and continue to do so periodically. My WIN XP was an upgrade installed over 98..no problems there either. I don't know if there were any FP2003 updates. Your candor is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your input. I just defragged, full system virus scan and will repeat just before installing service pack 2. I just bought an external 250GB Media Center External Hard Drive by Western Digital for automated back up and restore and to help meet my media needs. http://www.microcenter.com/single_p...duct_id=0169867 Have a wonderful day! -James "Wes" <puuhina@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:O0nDhga$EHA.2580@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > I'll speak for myself here, but I have not experienced one single problem > with SP2 that wasn't a user option or setting. ....I, too, have experienced no problems. Not even a user option or setting.
You must definately run the anti spyware programs to make sure you are devoid of spyware. -- === Tom "Pepper" Willett Microsoft MVP - FrontPage --- About FrontPage 2003: http://office.microsoft.com/home/of...etid=FX01085802 FrontPage 2003 Product Information: http://www.microsoft.com/office/fro...fo/default.mspx Understanding FrontPage: http://msdn.microsoft.com/office/un...ding/frontpage/ === "Wes" <puuhina@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:O0nDhga$EHA.2580@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... | I'll speak for myself here, but I have not experienced one single problem | with SP2 that wasn't a user option or setting.
